Two Years (104 Mondays)
—
For the last two years, I’ve taken my cameras along with me on trips, through the city of Chicago, to parties and events, mostly to capture small curiosities or details of my life. Shooting with film gives me a way to look at common practice through a different perspective, and I always learn something new when I review a developed roll. The best part about it is a single image will often inspire a much larger project, influencing not just my photography, but my design work as well.
I’m fascinated by not knowing exactly what image will produce when I open the shutter. That my state of mind is never the same when I review the film, as when I shot it, causes me to see one thing in two very different ways, allowing a certain kind of reflection process that I find to be very beneficial to my work. And what sharing them here gives me is a regular opportunity to curate, which is such an important part of the creative process.
So, 35mm Mondays is now officially a toddler. And growing up fast!
