I can't get over how amazing Drive was. I'd watch it again and again. Movie night anyone? 02.04.12 1AM

As a long-time admirer of Die Gestalten Verlag, and proud owner of each of the four preceding Los Logos books, I’m thrilled and flattered to have five of my logos published in the newest installment of the series! Los Logos: Compass is an excellent publication, with tons and tons of top notch identity samples from around the world. Plus a taller, more bookshelf-friendly format!
Thanks again, Gestalten. A deal is a deal—I’ll continue buying your books.

The guys over at Firebelly Design put a lot of work into this piece, and now the TYPEFORCE book is printed and being distributed! It’s the perfect catalogue to accompany the exhibition. It features all the work in close detail, with written excerpts from every artist, and many photographs from the evening. I was blown away by the quality of the book, but with donated supplies from Graphic Arts Studio, and Unisource Paper, and backing support from AIGA Chicago, I couldn’t expect anything less!
I’m proud to have been part of such a great design effort in the artist community, and thrilled to have exhibited among such talent. Below are three spreads from the book. Each artist chapter was given an individual custom title spread, and I gotta say—I love mine!

Received a newsletter yesterday from Hong Kong-based publisher, Victionary, about a few new books worth looking out for. One in particular, Nice to Meet You Too—the sequel to 2006 release, Nice to Meet You—focuses on branding, from business cards to identity systems and packages.
From the publisher:
Another wave of euphoric greetings has arrived! A sequel to Nice To Meet You, the first book of the series on visual greeting designs, Nice To Meet You Too encapsulates the new perspectives and values that young designers have brought forward to present identity in today’s business card and visual identity designs.
What makes figurative formats speak better than words? How simple artefacts explain what you do? How well could you market yourself while being eco-friendly? What does it take to live up to new expectations? With more than 100 creative talents contributing their self-promotional items and commissioned projects for clients in different professions, this new title gathers a great number of striking hellos that continues to make good impressions in this competitive world.
As an active designer, it’s always worth staying on top of your branding/identity game, and with 300+ pages of rich content, Nice to Meet You Too looks like a book worth reading, over and over again!
This will be the book of 2010.
Proximity is a contemporary art and culture magazine, based here in Chicago. It is by far the best local publication I have seen in the last nine months of living in this fine city; smooth full color features, mixed stock, insightful interviews and remarkably well-written articles, plus really unique sections including Portfolios, and Studios. Not to mention its the thickest magazine to call itself a magazine since Transworld Skateboarding!
Our mission is to amplify discourse on local and global art ecologies. We hope to serve as a map of artists, collectives and alternative spaces to commercial galleries, museums and universities as a means of connecting and cultivating sustainable creative communities.
Proximity is published by Public Media Institute a non-profit 501(c)(3).

One thing I miss working on is editorial design. Laying out a spread of copy and image is like a puzzle with a number of correct answers; like a choose your own adventure book!
The minimal work of Carine Collin was a friendly reminder of what I’ve been missing.
